I have an orbit reel on a 2007 1020 full fingered head. The combination has exceded my expectations. The feeding is very smooth--no more feeder house chain banging or slugs into the rock trap feeder. I think it really shined in the green stemmed beans. Maybe most of this is to be contributed to the full fingered auger but the orbit reel was very gentle and was most noticeable in the hailed beans. I was able to run the reel slower and still put the beans against the auger-- the full fingered auger helped also in how quickly it moved the beans under the auger and on to the feeder house. I have just finished the double crop beans and I think the orbit reel worked just super in this condition also. I even cut a few, a couple of acres, in a lite rain. The conbination still moved the material across the head to the feeder house. I only did this to finish the field and maybe some luck was involed in this one. Can't beat luck on any day!! I think the $2K for the orbit adapter was a bit steep and buying a head without a reel from the factory is possible but they don't know how much to deduct for what you don't need. I think my dealer was fair with me on the new purchase and since he installed it I don't know how much of a problem it was. I assume none since the reel needed to be put together anyway. The whole outfit was very smooth running and I would reccomend it as a good option instead of a draper. I think I can cut along side one and feed the machine as well with about $15K remaining in my pocket. I hope this answered your questions. If not we can talk more. It is good to feel the blessings of a good and safe harvest. He has been more than kind to us in Central IN. I hope we can feel good in giving back.
