Combines Out of season question about fescue

We have run both a rotary and a conventional in fescue. We found them to be fairly equally matched in fescue. This is comparing a 1460 IH and a 1500 NH. The 1460 had an advantage in good and dry crop, but at the just dry point, they were equally matched.

One of our neighbors tried to do winrowed fescue with a 1440 a couple of years ago, and gave up after half a day. Everyone clips it off pretty high, so there's not enough plant material present for the rotor to work properly.

Thanks guys, I had seen standing cut seemingly pretty sucsesfully with a specialty rotor but not when some had first started cutting. Sounds like I better check into this a little more before buying one for winrowed seed.
