I've used both JD parallel tracking and outback guidance. Outback is way simpler and always works. It only takes minutes to move between tractors. Outback dealer told me that there system is designed to work with free waas signal while some others work better with a subscription signal. I know outback works way better than Deere's parallel tracking on waas signal. Plus you can get there autosteer program for most newer tractors and sprayers for another $6000. You can save a few hundred bucks on some other systems that probably work as well. However, after using outback for two years, I can't think of one complaint.

I have absolutely nothing but good to say about the outback system. later models I have been tolled have the E-Diff built into them that tracts where the satelights should be if you lose your WAAS signal for any length of time. later programing alows for headland indications for spraying. Mapping units and auto steer can be added later with no problems. You buy the basic unit now, get used to it and add the toys later as you need them or can afford them.

Has anyone found that they can do away with the foam markers on their sprayerIJ Most that I have spoken to indicate that they still feel they need the markers even with the Outback S and 360 on board. This would be a big plus for me, but my ground is hilly and rough which may make doing away with the foamer not feasible, since I have to watch my boom height a lot. Any feedback on this would really be appreciated even though this isn't a combine only issue.

I have used the CIH "Trimble" system for three years and have only used foam one time, the first day I sprayed with the guidance system. The foam will only confuse you or let you see how much lapping you were doing. You won't need the function that tells you when to turn it on and off at the ends since you already know that from years of experience. They are all simple to use and like driving a car you must still focus on the machine and not the instruments. It will come easy. Although I have a trimble I might opt for one with a bigger viewing screen. When I spray with my coupe I must set it outside and then I have a dark box built around it for better viewing. The new, all in one unit, from CIH looks neat. That is all I know. The hills won't creat a problem for you, and the accuracy will make you smile.

i spray with a 4x4 truck and 70' at 18-20mph with only outback gps... never really did care for the soap foam.. the gilette shaving cream in 20 pound propane tanks was so much better... it would last for a couple days but then it became to costly... I also use my outback on the quad when pulling a 40' sponge wiper in soybeans. Its a great versatile unit and with the new program that came out for the outback s unit its got some new features like speed and heading.

You can also hook this unit up to greenstar, AFS, agleader, feildstar, and just about any other unit so u dont have to keep buying gps receivers

I have spent quite a bit of time with the JD system and have had really good luck. All technology will have its issues but the support I get for the greenstar system is great. The local dealers have clinics with field reps and factory reps answering questions. All the updates are free, and I know if my equipment becomes out of date I will only have to pay a minimal fee to upgrade to the new system.
