Combines OUTPUT SHAFT ON N6 HYDRO

looks like you could bought the whole combine for not much more. 2 yrs ago i traded a 84 n6 w 1500hrs to a jd dealer a i got only 7,000. Dealer later sold combine without head to my neighbor for 5,ooo. lots of older n6 sitting around. I,ve robed several parts for a r60 and this year evan for a 99 r62. We had a 96 r62 last week that we craked the cover on hydro pump. happened 2 days after fighting mud. don,t know what to do on that yet. good luck. we are in rice county. ks where youIJ

There's a guy in Kennsington that has a complete hydro from a low-houred n6 sitting on his shop floor. It's from an earlier model, not sure what year, but it might be worth a try. Try 785-476-2407, ask for Don.

Denison hydro parts are surely expensive but it is a very good hydro. Quality often comes with a price. If you can find it cheaper be sure to let dealer know for they can file a report. A grease fitting would of likely made it last forever if it got greased. '81 or '82 and newer N6 and 7s used the exact same hydros. Often times good used parts make more sense on them older machines. As bad as the price sounds on some of this stuff it sure sounds cheap compared to new machines. There are lots of places that can rebuild shaft splines. I believe we had that exact shaft spline rebuilt one time at Stevens welding in Glenburn ND for around $100. Of course there isn't time to send shaft off to be rebuilt when your using machine but if it was common enough your dealer might want to have a rebuilt one on hand to exchange. Wouldn't be a bad idea to slide coupling one way and then the other every 1000 hours or so to wipe some grease on the splines. Earlier Denisons had coupling on the pulley or drive side also. To grease that one we mark pulley to mount plate and mark pulley to coupling then pull off coupling by removing four 3_8" bolts. We mark things so we get same spline mesh as it had. With coupling out we wipe some wheel bearing grease on spline then reassemble. We used to do that all the time when going threw them older machines. Hope that helps out to some degree. I completely agree with you about quality does cost. The Dennison hydro is the best out there and we did get 3300 hours out of the original. But the replacement cost of what appears to be a fairly simple shaft and bearing just kinda of floored me. I was just curious if parts for this hydro have always been that expensive or is this a pricing oversight by AGCOIJ Yes a grease fitting would seem to add to the longevity.
