Combines Overheat

I would, that's cheap insurance, the life on oil can shorten dramatically by increasing the temp. it operates in. Without knowing how long you ran it there I think it would be short money.

I would get that oil out of there and change filters real quick! There may have been some very high temps in a few spots in the engine where the oil has burnt or carbonised as well as the oil's lubricating qualities breaking down. Tiny particles of hard carbon may be floating around which will score bearings and pistons etc. A few litres [ ok!, gallons ] of oil and some filters are a pretty cheap insurance against any further damage.

Use good quality oil with a grade 15W-40 and forget the additive. Good luck with your engine and might I suggest you get the alarm fixed.

I would and I would also have an oil sample anylized. Cheap insurance compared to cost of new engine.

I would suggest what the others have - change oil and filter - and I would change it again in 15-20 hours in case some baked on crud comes loose. The guy who suggested having an oil analysis done is giving good advice too. They may be able to tell you if you have engine damage that you may not know about. Good luck- Tom langan

I always use 20W40 oil from a well maned brand. Worket today all the day and the engine perfoms very well. No strange smoke in cold and in hot. Temperature levels are normal. Tomorrow morning will see if they burn more oil than it usualy do.
