Are you sure you need a cage sweepIJ Maybe there are some crops that might benefit from a cage sweep but for the corn and beans I grow, it sure isnt necessary.

No I'm not sure I need it, but when I'm harvesting cereal grains I find the top of the cage always has a layer of chaff and fine straw on top of it. Not sure to what extent it affects performance, but this has got to be robbing the combine of separation area. I looked at a p3 R60 on a dealers lot one day and got to thinking that the newer style sweep might fit in my old girl. I am under the impression that the fore_aft sweep is vastly superior to the original style. Anybody have different experienceIJ Thanks in advance. This room is a great resource. Keep up the good work and have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Oatboy, At one time AGCO offered the front to rear cage sweep as a retrofit update. I installed five of these back in the late 80's early 90's. They do work well when you get into tough thresh conditions that send all the material through the cage. I have net seen one plug yet.The customers that have them are still running them. One from a P3 R60 should work even though it is a little different from the retrofit kit,but you may have to weld some of the pieces to your existing cage where the rollers ride and also at the top of where your access doors are you will have to weld in a couple of pieces. I still have a copy of the installation instructions for the AGCO retrofit kit.I could make you copies and mail them to let you see what is involved. Price from AGCO back when these cage sweeps where installed was around $1700.00. Hope this helps, Hyper Harvest II P.S. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!

I know what you mean about mound of chaff and straw in some crops. Can't think of any old style cage sweeps still installed. All fore aft still in for they give no problems. You may consider this to get rid of mound of straw. Cut front rib that is holding up the straw. lay piece of flatbar across seem and weld into place. We rarely if ever remove that door on seperator side anyway. Same goes for thresher side if you choose to do that area also. I just love the openness (is that a word) with cage sweep completely missing. Good luck
