we've patched a number of header floors. first we cut out all old floor and then put in a peice of 26 guage galvanized with a final coat of UHMW plastic usually 1_8" thick. to make the job easier we used TEK screws, countersunk , to hold both floors down. a tricky job but it'll end the floor wearin out or rustin out problem.
