I have heard it is best to put a Perkins in a Ford. Suppose to fit the best. Has to be at least a 3_4 ton or bigger. We also have a 510. It has been parked in the barn for almost 15 years. It has never been rained on!My dad bought it new in 1974.That engine never burned more than 3gal._hr. I always wanted to put a Perkins in a pickup but never got the time!

510 Combine has to be the cheapest running combine ever made. The AV8-540 in my 760 sure knows how to suck the diesel though.

We run 750's with 372's[belt drives]. 4gals_hr. Mike, I can't find anything that will help you get the Perkins in the Ford. My neighbor use to have a 65 or 66 IHC with the older Perkins. Maybe you could find one in a junkyard and rob the mounting parts off.I will keep looking!

thanks, you should dust off that 510 and put it back to work. Good machines, but high maintenance!

Hey mike Check the archives of a news paper out of Winnipeg,Manitoba it's called Grainews. I seem to recall they had an article in there a few years ago about someone stuffing a 354 into a F250 pickup. Sorry don't have the web adress. Ron

You will need to make an adaptor plate, repowering with perkins,chev6.2l is common under here, be aware that it will possibly only do about 20_30mph tops.ie perkins 2000rpm,300ci,302ci etc 3000 + Ford Aust used to sell the F100 with a perkins, as the 6.9l_7.3l was never realeased here, The perkins wasnt real succesful.

We use the 510 every year. I would rather run the 510 because it is more dependable than the 760 which also runs really well. But the 760 has so much more capacity I can put up with the little problems. I think that the 510 has to be the best combine ever made considering the size and the time period it came out. If they are set right they will still clean the grain better than any combine out there including the new ones. We cut wheat with the 510 and took it to the elevator during harvest it was real clean but we wanted to make extra sure we didn't plug the drill so we had a load cleaned at the elevator. The same elevator docked us more on the load we had cleaned than the load directly from the 510!
