I had this happen to me this last season on my 850. Used to scare the pants off me every time it happened, and I'd start thinking about rebuilt injector pumps and things. Turns out it was a minute air leak in the fuel line where the rubber hose fits onto the steel pipe out of the tank. Cut off the last 3_4 inch of hose where it fits over the pipe, pushed the hose further onto the pipe again and did up the hose clamp and no more problem! Hope yours turns out to be that simple!

that could be we had some fun this spring with ice in the fuel lines perhaps there is still and air leak after that operation -M.

The next thing I would check is the fuel lift pump. And make sure the system is clean. good luck

im with dan on the air getting in the lines, one way of finding where it is coming in,is to turn on the acetylyne (unlit) and pass it close over joins etc, u should hear the engine pick up as it sniffs a bit oof acetylyne

first change your fuel filters second check the filter in the tank , unscrew the screws round the outlet pipes pull the assembly out and you find a filter on the end if this does not cure it check the lift pump take off block take apart and clean this should cure your problems. if you had ice in the lines you probably have got water in the tank so could be worth taking the tank off and cleaning.

This has happened intermittently to me over three years. Just not often enough to make me fix it until this season. Mine was a slightly loose connection where the suction pipe connected to the lift pump and I think I would accidentally move this sometimes when I got into the engine bay for service - Hope yours is this easy to fix
