Combines Peterson sieves

We have used an air foil sieve for ever crop except corn since corn will go over the sieve if you run over 4 mph.

The peterson sieve works well in wheat and other crops.I've had one in my 1688 for the last nine years. When it wears out i may get the Gorden airjet chaffer though.

I have a 1680 long sieve with a lowen peterson sieve in it for the last 3 seasons, have combined wheat, oats, flax, canola, edible beans, soybeans and corn, had a regular louvred sieve and fixed air foil in it at different times, I find it very easy to set, best in small seeds and have done corn up to 30% moisture with no problems. We ran the standard lower sieve with a fixed airfoil for years. Then we switched to an adjustable Peterson on both the lower and the upper. I prefer that combination, but they will all work pretty good if you can get even air flow from the fan. You will like it just fine in wheat and milo. Don't bother with switching.

I was helping a friend last week on his 1688. He has the three section addjustable Peterson chaffer (top sieve) and the standard lower sieve. He had his lower sieve almost wide open. I asked him if that is the way he cuts with it or if he had it that way just to clean it out for the winter. He said that was the way he always cuts with it and he gets a clean sample and nothing out the back end. I bet he has great capacity running that way. He cuts wheat, milo soybeans, and some corn. K.A.

Thanks to everyone who responded. The shared information has made my decision making a little easier.

Do you run the fan speed about the same as the louvered sieveIJ JWK
