If you have your feeder chain adjusted properly, it shouldn't contact the bottom anyway. I learned this the hard way but I just installed a new chain in mine and adjusted it to where there is about 3_16 to 1_4 inch clearance in halfway up the feederhouse. It ran smoother and quieter and I don't have the silencer so I bet yours would be pretty quiet.
