Combines plastic slatted feeder chain

we bought our 8570 used and it had the plastic slats on the feeder chain ran it for three years and no problems. replaced just the chains this year slats are still very good. no broken or bent slats. have no problems feeding anything. We grow wheat, barley,canola, peas and lentils.

I would go with a loewen, and no other not even OEM. Ive had GREAT luck with these chains, and they outlast deere chains nearly 3to1. Make sure and get one with chrome pins if you decide to go this route. I would honestly stay away from anything other that steel slats.

We ran a loewen in our 1688 and it only lasted half as long as the case maybe they have improved them lately or the deere is just poor quality.

I bought mine about 8 years ago. Wore out 3 sets of sprockets with the one chain, it fed maybe 25000 acres in the time I ran it and then sold it in the machine, still worked great.

I have installed several of these plastic feeder chains, they seem to work and stand up very well. From what people have told me they tend to be more gentle on delicate crops and have some flex to them. This is advantageous if you happened to pick up a rock or something which would cause a steel slat to bend or break. The drawback, the same people say is that sometimes in tougher crops it is tougher to feed the crop in as a result of the less agressve surface of the plastic. Keep in mind this is not from my frist hand experience, only from word of mouth from other farmers.

Had one once in a 2188, the slats lasted ok and the chain about the same as factory but found that the plastic slats were not as agressive in taking the crop from the header (wheat and beans) as a steel slat chain. We went back to the original chain once it was worn out.

Put plastic poly on the bubble auger on a 2188 this year. WORKED GREAT!!! 10 times better than factory steel flighting. Doesn't have any wear on it; no more green sticky build up on the auger anymore. Wouldn't go without it.
