Combines platform on F2

Check with a Gleaner dealer that sold the Big Shaver header control kit. This kit is what I have on a 1979 F2 and it is the same system Gleaner used on the 300 heads. If you check with bone yards around NWOH_NEIN you might find the kit on a F2. What the kit had was a drum switch with 3 settings for bar height and a lever for raise, hold and down_float. It has two electric valves for raise and lower. The bad thing is this system on a F2 with original hydraulic pump would restrict your power steering. The F3 had a dual pump that solved that problem. The replacement pump I got this fall for my F2 is bigger and helped the steering. Homiers at Payne Ohio sold the Big Shaver and Dan Homier is about the only guy I have found that knows much about them. I had a spring break in the up valve this fall that let the head go up and before I could shut the combine off the seal blew in the pump. A $.63 spring can do a lot of damage. Good luck. PS the vale setup from a F3 would be another option.

When I get time I will get the electric valve number off my setup. The valves can be bought at any place selling industrial or sprayer equipment. You would just have to take the time to run the hoses and a switch. You will have about $300 in the valves plus hoses and a switch. I'll check with Dan to see if he has any parts laying around.

I just got an e-mail specials flyer from combineworld.com that has electric over hydraulic aftermarket controllers. Don't know what the unit on an F3 looked like, but go there and look at the specials page.
