60 series header on 50 series combine,it's like a draper header without a adapter.Deere made a huge mistake, headers must be compatible with combine. What's more importantIJ Header or combine, kind of need each other, headers out number combines. Deere's mistake will be very costly and confusing.

The corn head shouldn't be a problem, it appears to me to be a much smaller change than everyone makes it out to be. From what I've seen the biggest change is to the hook on the top part (which I don't think looks very strong, but that's a different story...) instead of the lugs on the old machines. I've been told, and it appears from looking, that the bottom pins and the shafts are the same, so it should be a small modification. As far as the hydraulics, If you have hyd deck plates, it should be easy to convert to the new hookup, just need the one block. Unless Deere is way out in left field, the conversion you will need for a corn head should be really cheap, especially when compared to the combine. And from what I can tell, it's not really an adapter, but a conversion, not like putting a Deere head on an IH or something. The feederhouse does not look that different to me. Personally, I would make it part of the deal, that they have to throw in the parts for the corn head for free (not just add the price in somewhere),or there's no combine sale. I would assume you'd get a hydraflex, because that's where all the difficulty seems to be, dunno if the new machines will be able to use DAM or whatever replaced it.

You boys need to chill a bit. The cornhead conversion is only about $375.00 W_hyd deck plates, that's straight from the dealer.I think old style flexhead is around $900.00 later AZCUTTER

I agree that's not expensive. I priced a 60 series header to 50 series combine ,very expensive.Dealer said he was embarrassed to quote price.Buying new headers to put on old combines is very common. My understanding is you need adapter with 60 series head, will i need a conversion to use my old heads. Adapter plus conversions, very confusing and costly. Greatly appreciated if somebody would clear this up.

It's basically all in the electrics on the 50 Series combines. They have to be able to control the Hydraflex portion of the new platform. This is what's most expensive. These new heads are made for the NEW combines. That's the story. Be thankful. At least the old heads will fit on the new combines if you want. Case's WON'T! So if you buy an AFX, you have to buy all new heads. Period. Also, you'll love the single point hookup on the new heads and combines, and you'd enjoy it if you moved it over to your old head or combine. Corn head is very simple. Just making the hydraulic_electrical hookup either single point (why not) or multi-point. You can update the new head to old style or the old combine to new style.
