May need to close up slot to prevent the cob from getting there. The rear of slot should be wider than front by 1_8 to 1_4". You can adjust paddles on chain to intersect row more by adjusting the cast wear blocks but that could start draging in more material. look at area just to rear of rolls where it is pluging for an occational small immature cob could plug if point is wore or bent back so grab rolls wont suck it out. As far as loss I would say that yes for any restriction there could be losing a few kernals If head is doing some shelling.
