Yes No Dak I have had this problem, but it was caused by material build up on the cross shaft at the back of the precleaner tray, I just put two fence dropper's on the shaft with two hose clamps. For this problem Deere have a genuine part, I cant tell you the part nunber of it. This may not be your problem, but it has happened to a lot of them over here.

I had the very same problem in some very diry organic flax today I cleaned it out and it worked fine for about an hour but it seems like we are plugging everything on our 9600 radiator air filters inner and outer but it seems that the grain is just terriable dusty this year you can see a combine working for miles so i guess we just stop and clean a couple times a day

nodak, you are correct that in your operators manual it says to close the precleaner for small grains. you may be suprised at the results and increased capacity if you try to run with it opened some. it will take some time to adjust as you need to keep in mind that what goes through the precleaner goes directly to clean grain. you will also need to increase your air flow some as you are reducing the restriction on the flow and will need more air to do the same thing. a deere combine specialist has told me he never completely closes the precleaner anymore as he has seen such good results from running with it open to some degree. good luck VSTK
