Combines plugging wire holes

94 R62. Dry cereal straw will rapidly fill the open wire holes and plug the concaves in our conditions. Tried using the plastic plugs, at vast expense, in both the thresher concave and the separator concave but lost most of them after a season or two. Every second wire has been removed on the thresher concave. Went to long, allen keyed, round headed bolts in the thresher concave, which extend part way across the gap between bars and holds the material a little longer for threshing. Cage sheet material covers the separator concave so there are no wires in the concave. We use flat steel strips held in with one hold-in bolt welded into each strip and installed between the concave ribs to block holes in the separator concave. Very easy to install and it also allows reinstallation of wires if ever required rather than welding up holes.

Have had the plastic plugs in for a few years now. I replaced a few this summer, and saw some of them had some wear on them. I think if you are losing them that quickly they wern't snapped together properly. They do have to be lined up right to stay together.

Tried Agco plugs first but lost most of them. I took 5_16 carriage bolts and torched basiclly just below the rounded head portion and then tack welded them over the holes.Worked good and at little cost. Did not have to pull rotor just hinged concave open.
