Combines poddy beans

Shut the sieve(bottom) down to 1_4" or so. Open the Chaffer(top) to 5_8" or so. Keep an eye on the tailings, a couple tablespoonfuls per paddle or less. Fan needs to be fast enough to blow out light trash w_o loosing small beans.Only way to know is CAREFUllY check behind combine. Try to keep total loss to 4 beans per square foot ofr less--sometimes it is possible to get it to one, other times 4 is hard. Concave_cyl adj mainly have to do with threshing them out of pods. Remember that excess speed causes cracking. Can maybe provide more help if specific combine model known.

These are very poor beans 5-10 bushel. the combine is a 9600. Right now i have the fan speed at 1280, concave closed, cylinder at 490, bottom sieve almost closed, pre-cleaner almost closed, and top sieve probably at about 1_4 inch. How do you check the tailingsIJ

You should be able to slow your fan down to 1000 or less and cylinder to 400 with pre-cleaner all the way closed. Someone else can ride and check the tailings right inside the door outside of the cab door. What size head are you running and how fast are you drivingIJ I'm guessing you just dont have enough material coming into the machine. I had the same problem in 10 bu. beans, they finally cleaned up a little bit at 4.6 mph.
