Combines Pods in 510 grain tank

Sounds to me like you are over threshing. You should not need to run your cyl at 550 to do a good job in dry beans. Try slowing it down about 25rpm at a time till you start to see some unthreshed beans, then speed it back up. This will keep more split pods attached to the straw and from overloading the sieves. Also you might close your bottom sieve a little. Try throwing a handfull of beans on the sieve and just opening it enough so that they fall thru. Should help keep the pods out. Hope this helps.

The air deflectors can cause problems. The problem is that if they are deflecting the airflow, they cause a turbulance and a vacuum on one side and this vacuum sucks the chaff into the screens. You'll find you'll get the cleanest sample when the deflectors are parallel to the walls. That's when they're not doing any deflecting at all. Your safest bet is to take them out and get rid of them. Does your combine have the cleaning fan speed up kitIJ Kit was offered in the parts book, consisted of a smaller pulley for the fan and a different belt. You might want to check the part ns on your existing pulley and belt to check to see if you have it. Good way to tell if you don't have enough air is to have someone walk along side and observe the materials movement over the sieves. With the fan wide open you should be able to blow most of the grain right out of the machine. Sounds to me like the fan is just too slow. You might want to check and make sure you don't have a bearing out of the fan speed adjustment as well. Doc
