Use poly. they will do less harm when they break and go through the thresshing module. I have saw shteel ones punch holes in the case around they threshing module from steel ones.
I would use the poly fingers even though they will wear. I've also seen major damage to the inside of an STS that was very costly to fix and I'm glad it wasn't my combine. I have poly fingers on my flex head.
