Combines Poor straw spreading 8570

I had the same complaint with my 8570. I ended up using JD deep spreader fins in place of the outside two on the chopper. I did not have the fixed knives in the chopper. I did try different settings on the deflector at the end of the rotor, had to drill a hole 1_2 way between two of them for windrows to get an even spread and move it again when doing soybeans. Not much help but that is what I did when I had the 8570

Try installing the fine cut option in the chopper and setting them in halfway.

I upgraded to 8780XP last year and it has the fine cut chopper in a different style than the 8570. I did get a better spread pattern but still cannot spread over about 20'. I kept the stationary knives all the way in for wheat and soys because of the large volume of straw and I wanted it chopped as fine as possible. I am going to try them halfway this next year and see if I am still satisfied with the spread pattern and the chop. Dont' know why I didn't last year as the 8570 never had a straw problem behind the combine.
