Combines Posi feed Roller Drum

The Posi-feed rollers were invented a few kilometres down the road from us. We installed them in both the front and rear feeder elevators in our 94 R62 with a 500 flex front, two seasons ago. Installation of the rear roller is probably more important than the front roller. They are not a cure-all for all the feeding problems but we found that they make a very substantial improvement in getting the crop material off the header and into the feeder house. The rear posi-feed roller really keeps the crop material flowing smoothly at the transition point between the elevators. We certainly would not go back to the old smooth rollers. Our crops are wheat, barley, lentils and small grains. Installation is not difficult. The rear roller is removed and installed through the rear elevator's door. Rolf got pretty good at that! Just be prepared to be patient and take your time in doing the job. Cheers!

We run 7" posi-feed for rear chain on two different machines. I'm with R.O.M. for they are not a cure all but certainly improvement. We had substantially less pluging or problems with them machines but of course we had installed some other tricks at the same time. Only other tricks were rock door hump, repostitioned 2nd helical from gearbox to drop straw onto third helical extention across feeder and extended 3rd helical to drop straw ahead of seperator grate, rotor sweeps on seperator side, and all forward bars. You see you reduce load on rear feed by improving feed between chain and cylinder with the hump, you prevent most of the crop that has allready been trashed from getting back in the way of feeder with the helical mod, and you prevent constipation from backing up from seperator side with forward bars and or sweeps. Reducing load on rear chain helps prevent the momentary slips of clutch which will surely stop the front feed for it has no where to go. Other tricks to get much more material up feeder can be done but it gets more involved. If you are having trouble between header auger and front chain you need to look at floor to see it is flat and smooth between the two. Not to familiar with lTM but that could cause some transition problem between the two. You don't want a hole or slot between the two for when chain comes around the tention drum it will push material down and disturb flow big time. Thanks to you and ROM for the advice on the posifeed drum. We are having few problems with the rear conveyor. The hump kit really does help! We also have most of the fixes done inside, but will probably do the steep pitch helicals in the thresher section for this season. The transition between the header and the front drum is where we would like to see some improvements. As much as we all would like to see even feeding from the header, there will be some bunching once in a while. Again thanks for the help!
