G'd evening Gary. We've got quite a few shots of further mods when we get this lousy harvest out the way. Bit of recreational harvesting in the lentils. Rolf did about 800 acres in half an hour. Not a sign of any seed even in the bottom of the grain elevator. 8 tonnes total off another 320 acres of lentils. Not only the drought but we also think we got hit with frost on the lentils. The western district down south of here has been very heavily damaged by frost again this year. Our wheat is lousy as well, less than a tonne _ Ha. but at least we are getting our seed back! If you put new taper roller bearings into that centre housing of the wobble box they may settle in. If you just took up some slack in the original bearings then you may be a bit tight. The center_ main taper bearing box will definitely get fairly warm and may make you pull the finger back after a few seconds touching it but it should not get to the stage where it is not advisable to touch it. It also depends on how long you ran it before the temp got up. Keep those two taper bearings on the front and back snugged up by removing the shims. As soon as you hear a knock there or see any movement take a shim or two out and you will keep your box going a long time.

My best quess is your close. Turning over by hand without pulley would be a bit loose so I believe you went the right way. Without the seals installed and still dry of grease it will be tough to turn over by hand when up to specs. I'd rather have a little tight than loose for the looseness will amplify as it gets out to sickle head.

Thanks I'll leave it and keep an eye on it. New to it but how nice it runs after that old double pitman knocker of a thing. pengs5

ROM All new bearings i reco myself. Been rebuilding New Holland mower box's for years so i thought I'd give it a go and it is running real nice even though i was a bit worried about it. So next i'm going to put on the ROM_rolf flywheels .Ran out of time this year. Was going to buy a SCH prodrive but picked up a gleaner box at a sale. I had to get rid of the double drive pitman crank thing on my older 24 footer it was either it or me. The front now is so smooth and with my homemade poly retractable fingers nice and quiet . Along with the smooth running processor its all so smooth. Thank you both and USA guru's again for all your help. Pengs5
