Yes. They do work. I run a '96 2188 AFS machine. We yield map, do site specific soil testing, and are hoping to find a site specific applicator in our area. One of the things that was very evident from last year was the need for tile drainage in several locations. My combine unit (approx. $6-8000US now) paid for itself in the second year as we did some side by side corn variety tests. The number I liked turned out to be the poorest one in the bunch. We don't plant that one anymore. We also did some side by side tillage comparisons. For that year, moldboard plowing gave a 20% or 30 bu increase in yield. We've done some liming by the soil tests. Since no GPS machines here, I flagged the field by the soil map. Some of it didn't need lime, the rest did. I feel there are multitudes of benefits from this system. I've never run anyone elses to know what they're like.
