how about pointing out the stuff that can be costly to fix if overlookedIJ maybe ya do thisIJ or maybe a the best way to change a bearing in the field. how about telling the ones with walker machines how to keep their chopper belt from comming off,with a chunk of 10 by 10 rubber from a old mud flap. zip tie it to the rail just ahead of the pulley on the chopper. little things that people forget to ask, or don't want to look like a fool for askingIJ by the wayIJ are you in phelps countyIJ or futher east

Thanks for the reply. We've gone over stuff like that every year. We look at what we've seemed to have had the most problems with the year before and go over things that can prevent it from happening again. We are in York county. Where are you fromIJ

You've covered all the topics about harvesting and the combines in general. I assume you have a Q and A time. If your done all that, it's time to have fun. After the overview of above, bring in a comedian, magician or some other form of entertainment.

Doug, I think you pretty well covered it all. I like Mit's suggestions on what to ask customers during the months between these clinics. Also, a good look at the year's worth of parts purchases and shop work orders is another good indication of what most local combines' needs are. As for my suggestion, I like to see harvest safety issues addressed at any and al combine and other machinery seminars and clinics. I used to help a local Deere dealer in Kansas with safety demos and visual aids. It really gets attention and safety is just as important here as the combines themselves. In fact, I think at least half or more of the combine fires and all of the on-road accidents are totally avoidable if safety really did come first. If you post contact info, I will be in touch with you to help. I may even be able to travel to Nebraska to help with the clinic as I have in the past.

We usally spend a bit of time on the headers, especially the flex head adjustments and cutting parts. comparing 600 to 900 series etc. explaining how the new head or even new cutting parts on older head will make the customers more money.
