Depending on where you live for your market, about $5000 tops in my area if the 4-38 is black and in great condition. I owned a 76 F diesel and it was one eating machine, the grain tank was too small for the length of rows that I had, so I was dumping on the go all the time. It was also a very late 76 so it had many F2 parts in it, single fan, heavy feeder beater, etc. The diesel is a plus and might make worth a little more, also if it has a chopper.

I've been taking note of the F's that sell in this area. Recently a '79 F2 (gas, appeared very good condition) sold at auction for $1300. The "black" 4-38 corn head brought $1000. and the 15' flex head brought $350. Also, advertised in the classified's is a (probably mid '70's) F (gas) with 13' grain head, and 4-38 corn head for sale for $2700. Personally, I hope to find an F or F2 sold as a package with both heads for close to $2000. Hope this helps. Can someone tell me what is the big difference between the regular corn head and the "black" oneIJ Thanks

Slope angle on the snouts, the twists and the blades on the rolls and the gear boxes and chains are superior over the orange head. like comparing the black to the hugger, the hugger again is a much upgraded head, but huggers don't match F's.
