Combines Problems w Gleaner

gee, should have gotten ahold of Hurtt Equip. Dan_Tom have many combines running with all the competition with windrow conditions. No thats not fair. Gleaner division through your local dealer should have gotten ahold of YOU to help with your problem. What models did you haveIJ It is very frustrating to us when the correct info can't get out. Wish Dan had a shot at these.

Yes it would be good to know the model and year. Did they have factory feed chainsIJ Feeder shocks have been a huge improvement and Gleaner has put them on all '97 or newer machines. There are kits to put them on earlier machines. We have made some other changes to get them to handle mega straw and Gleaner has been informed completely. It takes a bunch of straw to slow up the R72 rotor and believe me the feeder is up to the challange. The hungery we have made the rotor the more capacity we've had to find in the feeder. For any others of you in canola and having problems you might consider raising header auger all the way and removing a bunch of auger fingers. I've been told that removeing fingers will help when there are bunches for the bunches get pulled apart and they won't plug feeder. Another thaught to ponder is what is the big difference between shuving 30' into a 60" hole as compaired to a 40" hole. Also how deep is the pile of straw entering the 60" hole as compaired to the 40". Maybe the square inches of entrance area is similiar! I'm not saying we haven't had to improve the feeders as time goes along but there is still some capacity left in there when tuned well. I can still hear the sound of the feeder slip clutches on the big green feeder so they will slip out too. I do like the narrow feeder also for it matches up to the width of the concave. I think the thick narrow heavy mat of material gets threshed with less damage when exposed to concave that way. I wish the guy all the luck with the Cat and who knows maybe he'll be back.
