Combines Propulsion Switch

There is a way to override the system where you can use the high speed hydro in 3rd gear. I don't know how to do it, but it was done on our 2388 before we bought it. It goes 22 mph or so, but it is a lower geared rice machine. A grain machine would go faster. It goes 18 or so in low speed. The 2 speed switch still works fine, btw.

I just realized that you said you didn't have the 2-speed hydro. I think it was first developed for rice machines which have lower gearing in the gear transmission. Most combines with factory RWD seem to have the 2-speed hydro. It will make up for the speed loss when the rear axle is engaged, though it will work in 2wd too. The 2-speed is in the hydro motor itself, and would require changing the hydro motor. Not worth the expense, IMO. Besides, without a header our 2388 bounces so bad over 20mph or so that I can't imagine running much faster.
