The dial a matic reads off of the feeder house,if you look under the cab there is a cable which just gives you a reading depending on the angle of the feeder house. I cant remember exactly but I think you have to calibrate it with each different front you add.

THE D-A-M WIll ONlY WORK WITH A FlEX HEAD, THERE IS A BOX ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE HEAD, THERE IS A ROD THAT RUNS UNDER THE HEAD THAT ATTACHES TO THE BOX THAT IS WHAT THE D-A-M SWITCH IS CONNECTED TO. DEPENDING WHAT POSITION YOU HAVE THE SWITCH IN IS HOW MUCH GROUND PRESSURE IT WIll APPlY. HOPE THIS HElPS

The DAM also is available on pickup heads like the 912, 914. Not only on flex heads.

The swithch under the cab with the cable is the high limit, it shuts of the DAM when the feeder house lifts to a hight you set with the cable_chain. The new 50 series combines have an actual "return to cut hight" sensor on the feeder house that can be used with, or seperate of, the completely user adjustable hight sensing systems on the headers.
