Combines Question for the wheat truck drivers out there

We're doing about the same as you are as far as distance, number of trips, and bushels is concerned. We haul that far out of necessity as most of our elevators are 10 to 20 miles apart. In the last year or two we have been hiring a semi to do the trucking for us. Particularly for corn. They will haul it up to 10 miles for .07 cents per bushel. That is cheaper than I can hire a driver and maintain a truck. On soybeans we will sometimes haul 30 miles to an elevator for extra premium. End up giving most of the premium to the trucker but it keeps him busy while the beans are being harvested. In corn we just get it out as fast as he can haul. We usually end up with two trucks for that.
