I'm sure any fabricating shop or small metals shop could make you the parts you need for a lot less than that. May not look as pretty, but will function.

It might be that it's an obscure product which sells in relatively low volumes, thus, it isn't really worthwhile for anyone other than the original manufacturer to produce it. However, it doesn't mean that the manufacturer has to abusively capitalize on it. I agree with IG, it's often because they can!

You said it Tom: "Abuse" is exactly what that is. I completely understand the manufacturer selling the part at a premium because of it's low volume, but abusing the very customer that bought their machine that needs the part is not right. Customers remember these things. Customers often change brands because of these things. And before everyone screams and points fingers and says "but John Deere does it too!" I know, you're right, they do. BUT, the customer gets some satisfaction thinking I'll show them, I'll jump brands, and they do! And there you go, another Gleaner customer gone red, or green, or whatever. My $0.02 again, OKFarmer

I will second that thought IG. But the magazines and the papers around here tell us our income is up 40% for 2006 and maybe even more for 2007. They must have enterviewed the guy who has not sold any old crop. Maybe I am the only poor marketer. Sure is fun to complain isn't it

Good idea. What I know is Agco is not going to get $500 out of me for that part, but maybe for something that is worth it. lynn
