Combines Questions about IH 915

915's will easily handle a 20ft header or 6 row cornhead.They are very hard to work on and had poor resale.People either loved them or hated them.A custom cutter 25 miles east of me used to run 2 or 3 915's and cut in our neighborhood every year.I only know of one left in our area and it hasnt cut in 3-4 years.Quite a few different heads will work on them.A guy 20 miles west of me has a 750 hour 815 for sale.

The low hour 815 IH is at Deerfield,MO which is 100 miles south of KC.I'm an IH man but am not a big fan of the 815-915 IH combines but some people like them.They are very hard to work on.I have had (2) new 715 IH's and (1) used 715 and have always liked them but good ones are getting hard to find as they are getting old.If interested in the 815 post here or email me for more info.I have known the man that owns it for years.

Thanks for the information, I think I will look for a late model 715. Are you familiar with the German Diesel engines that are in someIJ What is your opinion on themIJ I saw one advertised that had 2700 hours with 15' flex head. A real slick 715 with 310 German diesel might be worth as much as $5,000 or as little as $2500 if only average.The 310 German is a good motor but likes to eat holes in sleeves if they havent had a water filter or conditioner put in the radiator.Mine wasnt using any oil at 3000 hours but ate a hole in a sleeve one winter so had to rebuild it.I saw a 1600 hour 1979 715 bring $7150 on a sale several years ago.
