Go with the late N machines, or R7. The earlier Ns were known for many problems, most of the correction was made by the 82 model year. In 82 the N6and7s were built heavier throughout. The early ones are the ones normally at the salvage yard with weakness problems. Not to fear, IH had problems with the 1400 series, NH with the TR70s, Gleaner with the early N series, and Deere is still ironing out problems with the STS. Seems to be the thing in the first 4 or 5 years of the Rotary combines for each producer.
