Boetboer, I loved my Cat it was one heck of a machine. Until something would go wrong with it. Similiar problems to what they had at husker days on the cat forum. Suprizingly the 20ft head worked great although no one else thought so. I ran her in 50 bushel wheat and was running a tad over 4 mph will allowable losses. I just loved it when she worked, she would just purr along. I just got tired of the cat guys never getting it set up right for me. I have just heard good things about the deere and I need to replace the cat.

The 17.5 foot head would sure be a complement to the jd munster. Speeds of 2.5 to 3 mph are posible if conditions are right. Hold on and take you lunch. happy harvest

Hey now, i think you are pushing it with that 17.5' head, maybe he should swath with 15' swather, just to make sure he doesn't slug that 9860 at 2 m.p.h. It is very possible he is trading that Cat off because it is just to tired out from pushing that 20' head all the time.

Whether he is real or notIJ Nobody knows! It's very possible, though, since I have a neighbor who has traditionally bought the biggest New Holland combine built, starting from a 995 back in (I believe) the early 70'sIJ From the 995 he trade on a 1500, then a TR70, TR96, TR96, (he skipped the TRX7 series) and now owns a TR99. The trouble is, his acreage hasn't increased much, and he still only combines about 350 acres a year. He refuses to do any custom work whatsoever, and he is now deliberating the purchase of the largest CR. His son is trying to talk him out of it; - seems it would "drain" too much of his inheritance! ;-)
