Well buckwheat I traded my 850 for a 1660 with the standard rotor about 6 years ago. As far as the capacity the 1660 had more, but in the tougher crops the 850 would have run longer. About 4 years ago I traded for a 1688 with the specialty rotor this machine had more capacity than the 1660 and would handle the tougher crops with ease. With the specialty rotor you might get a little more rotor loss in wet corn. The concaves I use are the large wire in corn and Soybeans, then install the gordon filler plates with the large wire in wheat and barley. As far as setting the machine the conditions vary though the day and so do your settings. I suggest going by the settings in the book, it's hard to set one setting here. I suggest looking for a custom cutter package for the extended wear. I farm corn and soybeans in N.W. Missouri and cut some wheat and barley on the harvast run.
