KSFARMS likely hit nail on the head for these slip clutches are rock solid and can take a ton of sliping (found that out in years before shocks ect.). This clutch is basically the same if not identical as what is used on largest machines so it can be weak and still hold the load on that small machine. But I have learned to never say never. Clutch can be tore down, cleaned, and reassembled if you know what you are doing. Number one is to keep it lubed as recommended. I just recently come accross one and then another machine where rear feed clutch was rusted solid from no grease and spines wore out. Funny how a touch of service can go a long long way. These clutches are not like you may be used to on the old conventionals so go ahead and grease them. Don't forget to check belt tentions. Corn varible can be tricky for it may feel tight and not hold under power. Make sure you have gap inbetween sheaves. Good luck

We had the same problem this year with a 1998 R52 we bought. We found out the biggest problem was that our 20' flex head was set up for a 62 without the filler kit. You also have to remove 4 retractable fingers and a flighting extension on the auger. We put additional small springs in our slip clutch before we found out about the head. Greasing is important on this type of slip clutch. It seeems that even feeding is the most important thing. Hope this helps.
