Combines R 50 chopper

I have only used the factory one but did mention a jobber one and a factory fine cut one a few posts ago. Choppers and drives for them have been very little to no trouble in the last 15 plus years. Pivot points for idlers were a bit narrow for belts to stay in alignment the first couple years of the rotarys. Belts come off or start slipping and the next thing you know the chopper is plugged and clutch burnt out. Not to worry on R50's and newer machines. You will likely get by just fine with factory kit if still available. Sharpening concave knifes will help cut but Clinton Ag's knifes will be even better. Been so long since I put chopper in a R50 but I believe you could us a R52 kit if you don't mind buying a couple pulleys separately. If you are brave you could order the fine cut R52 kit and add the extra pulleys. I've heard the fine cut does a fine job but can't speak from experience. Good luck whatever you do.
