Combines R 50 engine cooling fan

I think is not a big job replace the fan. There's only a bolt in the shaft, so must be easy to replace. See if the bearings are OK, if you have to replace bearings too you have to disassemble all the turbine from the engine. last year i replaced the bearings and I took 1 hour to fix it. Good luck.

On the R-50 I had, when the fan was worn, chaff would build up on the engine oil cooler, then the engine would run warm. A new fan mover a lOT more air and kept the engine clean. I changed mine about every 750 engine hours. Always hired it done but I think the shroud has to be removed.

Good fan will produce air pressure inside cowling in the range of 6" of water with hot oil and at rated RPM. Don't wait to long for fan will get out of balance which can cause other problems.
