Combines R 62 cleaning shoe

I went from an R50 to a '98 R62 6 years ago or so. I bought a machine with 350 sep. hrs and now have 1800 sep. hrs and have never had a problem with the shoe. I did have to replace the chaffer last year when several wires had worn and were coming loose. I would say the machine you are looking at just had bad luck or neglect. You will like the R62.

I don't remember for sure on year and serial number but AGCO did make a running change in this area. They doubled the thickness of the metal where bolt goes through shoe into chaffer by adding a channel shaped piece of metal over this area and welding. We have had to do this to one machine as I beleive that the bolt worked loose from the extra weight and inertia from larger shoe. Check this area for the double thickness on material and if it is there then bolt may not have been tightened properly and if it is not there then you can always add it. Anyway I would not let this hinder my decision on this combine. You will definitely like the R62. Hyper Harvest II

I had a 98 R-62, serial number 14 for that year so made early on , was actually run in 07 harvest, we have not had an issue with that on our machine. We do remove the chaffer and seive every year for a good cleaning and inspection. My guess is the same as the others and it wasn't checked on a somewhat regular basis.

Thanks for the comments. If I remember right, one machine did have the double thickness around the bolts, the other not sure. lots of goobered up welding. Rob.
