Combines R 62 Muffler

It blows them away in performance. With an electronic engine you wll never get a weak one. Their performance is so much better that it makes it real hard to justify a 72. There is not much difference anymore.

Turbo, I just asked a dealer the same question.I told him I have a 99 R72,and I thought that a R65 would do as much as my R72, He said I would not be happy if I thought that a 65 would do what my 72 will do.I figured it would but he said no.Alot more cubic inch on the 72 Illinois Gleaner

I have a R-62 with the QSC engine,only one word for the power-doggy.

Why do you think the QSC is doggyIJ We have a chance to buy a 2001 62 fairly resonable. We already have a 98 62 which we would trade on it. The 98 has always been a dog have 68 degree pitched helicals in it. Does not rumble one bit. I have always felt that the governor does not respond soon enough. Had Cummins out and had pump tested. Plus the cooling system is poor. Newer ones have bigger radiator. That is the main reason for trading is the overheating problem. We also have a 98 72 that I just love because of the quick response.

I was told the QSC engines are overated.I have an 01 R-62,had a 98 before,both machines are set up the same,the 98 would walk awaay from the 01.Neither has had a heat problem.Can't run over 4 mph with a 8 row head,just plain runs out of power.Everything checks out on the engine,wish they'd offer the M-11 in the 62's and 65's.

They do. They call it a R72_R75.

You need to check your wastegate if you haven't already. Plus leak check your air to air aftercooler system. THose 2 things take care of 99% of power complaints on QSC motors other than people wanting 72-75 power out of their 62-65. Kelly

I totally agree with the power problem. We will never own another 62_65 unless the QSC has found its way down the road. I engine does not respond fast enough, and as soon as you lose rpms, it is hard to get them back under a steady load. It's bad when the Cummins repair man himself says that the QSC does not belong in a combine.

From aguy who has not owned a QSC engine but know a few who have if you get a new engine chip it can perform as well as any mechanical even the ones that have been hopped up themselves.

Some neighbors complain about noise from combines late at night. I would imagine thats the reason for muffler. We've had no power problem with the QSCs. There was an update for the software the first year that hopefully got done and you can purchase the new improved software for more hp and better torque curve. I don't see any reason why the QSC isn't as good as any engine in a combine as long as the software lets her kick in. If you got your old 62 set up to flow straw and need more power you best check turbo wastegate control, fuel boost pump, or have pump checked out at a good station. Good luck
