Combines R 62 S Wheel squeak

Mine squeaks too. I have taken the plastic housing off to get at the U joint and if memory serves me, a nylon bushing below the U joint. The squeaking is usually worse when I pivot the steering wheel back towards me for better visibility. It actually steers alittle harder when the U joint is in more of an angle. I wonder if a CV joint could be fitted to replace the U joint and if a bearing could replace the nylon bushing. Have a safe harvest, Gamaman

Our 97 R62 steered hard from the get-go, then the squeaking began at around 700 hours. Found out the U- joint had no grease in it. Replacement cured the squeak and hard steering.

Thanks, that might explain why lubrication wasn't working.

A mechanic managed to shoot some graphite spray lubricant into the crosses and free it up enough to get through harvest; it did help a bunch and was fairly easy to do.
