Have sold 3 R72's with turrets and have not had a minutes trouble with any of them. Two 98's and one 2001.

Them bolts were smaller on the first machines. Be sure you have the larger ones or at least grade 8. Have dealer check '99 school book for info. I'm unsure if there was a campaign to do that or not. We have a couple with the turret and they've been no problem. Most guys get by just fine with simplicity of the standard auger but many are thinking turret next time around. I think my choice would be the 14" with long spout and if it didn't reach up and out far enough I would build it longer. Problem with rear feed indicates a feeding problem. Rear feed stripper should be in for corn only. If you have rock sump installed it could be causing a problem. I prefer having hump fastened to door and third helical extended over top left of feeder opening to reduce or eliminate rear feed problems. Going from 1" to 1 1_4" spreader bearings seemed to help with bearing trouble but I think installing triple lip sealed bearings helped us more than anything. I hope the loosened injector line just spilled some diesel!!!!!!

I broke the very same bolt on the company experimental and ripped a hole in the bin same as you. It was reported and they were aware of it. That was back in 96-97. I thought the push on the auger from unloading the grain was breaking the bolts. Thought that the gear-box should have been supported 180 degrees from where the push was. Chet
