Fishdog, The Sunstrand hydro used in the 40's and 50's are pretty reliable. Have you checked belt tension and belt for slippageIJ(Dirt build-up in grooves or belt worn and bottoming in sheave grooves, bottom of grooves will be shiney.) Have you checked or changed the hyd. filterIJ You may have a hyd. pump problem possibly and if there are any filings from a failure they would end up in charge filter. The rear section of hyd. pump supplies oil to hydro. The front section of hyd. pump supplies oil for all other hyd. functions. Another possibilty is the high pressure relief valve may be unseating to easily or be broke. You can switch reverse high pressure relief with forward high pressure relief to verify that high pressure relief valve is not the problem. Pressure checking is a for sure way of checking charge pressure(pump supply pressure) and hydro high pressure to make sure hydro is building pressure. Keep us informed, Hyper Harvest II
