Combines R50 fan sprocket broke again

Been There. Your Spreader is somehow still throwing a hunk of cob into the chain. look from the back of the combine if you can see any gap in line with that chain the speader will get a cob there. I have another rubber flap bolted on to a bracket along the shoe and that fixed the problem.

Had the same problem in corn when first running these machines. Sheilded the heck out of drives and never had another machine fail one in 10 plus years. Road on ladder alot tring to catch a cob in that area but was hard to see. Never spring loaded the idler but sounds like a very good plan also.

I broke a couple of shafts a few years ago before I realised that I did not have the elevator chains tight enough. So now on my weekly maintenance I check the tension on the chains, especially in corn. I did also make a shield over the drive chains. Since then I have not broken another shaft.
