1994 model r5256. In 95 installed ediblebean kit and turned up the fuel on deutz in order to cut with N5 with 2500 hours. In 98 removed every other wire in concaves, cut and rewelded paddles on end of cylnder, installed shock kit on feed chains. In 99 beans averaged 12bu_ac so had no problem cutting or keeping them in the machine. in 2000 installed suction hose on 500 series 18ft. And thus this far this fall changed the fan shaft pulley to a smaller one increasing speed 10% on fan and shoe, built extention onto the end of tailings elevator opening to put tailings in the center on distibution auger on which I rearranged the paddles to even load onto left side of shoe instead of everything on the right, and tomorrow I plan to change pulley which drives wobble box to slow it down so I can increase header auger and feed chains about 10% using the variable speed drive. Will now cut with a spike tooth M3 with 16ft head at 3 to 3.5 in 40 to 45 bu. beans.

When you say "cut and rewelded paddles on the end of cylinder" do you mean that you made_installed extended cylinder bar kitIJ If so, and you are not running any or more than two reverser bars you should not have a horse power problem with an 18' head. If you do have a horsepower problem you need to have the pump inspected rather than just adding more fuel. Many here swear by lee's Repair (somebody help me here) in Fort Dodge, IA. When you say you can't "keep them in" sounds like your having shoe loss, is that correctIJ Curious as to why you want auger and feed chains sped up in 40-45 bu beansIJ If you just want feed chains sped up you can run on the corn pulley. Are you running a wegde in concave for beansIJ It is surprising to me that your having more trouble keeping in 40-45 bu beans than 12. My experience is just the opposite. Don't have first hand experience with R-52 (we have R-60 and R-72) but have several neighbors with R-50's and R-52's. Most are running 20 to 25 ft flex heads and 8 row corn heads. Two neighbors have Hyperized them but many are still stock. Your right in that you should be out doing an M3. Please be specific in your answers. The guys on this site will get you going!

The R52 has more capacity than an l series. I traded my M2 for an N6 and found no comparison to the capacity in the two. The 6_60_62 series far out perform the M series. And my N6 will easily keep up with or pass a 2388 with a 6 row or 20'. Power is what makes a rotary perform and I would question if you are getting enough.

get me going been trying to get going since 1994 a little tire of trying to keep up think its time for a change. wonder if any one can mod a gleaner into a case ih

When you say " just to get our cutting speed up with my neighbours m3" ,what do you meanIJ What is your limiting factorIJ We run a hypered r50 and have no problems running 4.5mph in 50bu beans with a 20ft flex head. Is your problem : feeding at the head, threshing capacity, shoe loss, horsepowerIJ

Red, I bought an '88 R50 in 1994. Traded in an l2. The 50 was a dog compared to the l until we moved the reverse bars from the factory position. Took the four of them from the discharge end and installed 2 at the drive end and 2 in the centre of the rotor. Wow, what a difference! That made more improvement than all the other mods I've read about and tried. Second significant improvement was to adapt a CIH 1020 header (20') to fit. I could run 4.5 mph or better in 45 bu beans easily. A good gain over the 18' 318 Gleaner head. like you, I got tired of all the other mods - which seemed to be increasing grain loss - and traded Allis for a CIH 1688. Probably out of one fire into another but I hope I can cut my repair costs significantly. Gleaner is surely a nicer combine to work on though.
