Combines R52 Duals

I am in the process of purchasing a set of 18.4 x 42's for my R52. I am going to run them with a 6 row head. I am going to cut down the spacer for I can run the outside dual just off the outside corn rows. You will have to install a ladder extension. The case IH boys in my area have done this. They claim it realy stabilizes the machine.

Duals are nice and will work OK with the 8 row head but you must have a ladder extension and you will want the electric ladder lift as the ladder will be knocking down the next row of corn when the guess row gets a little narrow. As for the duals and the 20' flexhead. If you are generally cutting straight back and forth, then it will work. If you have curves and turns, the duals quickly start running over the uncut crop.

I haven't completed the deal yet, so I could order a wider flexhead. Would an R52 handle a 25' flex in 80 bushel wheatIJ I'm sure it would handle it in soys!

We ran a 52 with Kirchner duals the first year duals were becoming popular. It was tight spaced and used a 16" outer tire. It was fine with a 20' head and they claimed it would sneak in behind a 6 row head if the crop was standing. We have used duals 20.8x42's on our previous 62's and on our 72. We usually raise the ladder especially is any corn is leaning. A 25' head on a 52 would be a load in beans. It would probably work, but in tough stems you will be moving at a snails pace. As far as duals go, once you have them you will never go back.
