Combines R52 precleaner

I was able to push them things out of a discarded precleaner one time in order to fix up a partially damaged one. Don't remember wrecking them to bad getting them out. Either of two things caused melt down. Suction part of exhaust pipe rusted out allowing hot exhaust to go to precleaner or prescreen on top of hood pluged up tight enough one time to cause engine to such hot exhaust from exhaust pipe. Before installing new precleaner you should adapt clear plastic hose to barb on exhaust pipe and put hose down into a bucket of water. It should such water further and further up the hose with higher RPM and it would be further yet if you put machine under a load. If not you need to get yourself an exhaust pipe.

Dan thanks for the info, believe it was plugged air intake on top of hood which caused damage. Makes sence. Thanks again Randy

check your ventura - it is molded and welded into the exhaust at the tube weldment. There should be a negative vacuum that is capable of sucking up light dust and chaff. IF it does, it is fine, if not one can order an RW or other ventura and cut the pipe and install in place of the defective one. Then remove the precleaner - if you havn't done this in a while it is worth th effort. Check the little staionary propellers. They should not be melted or deformed. Then blow in to suction hole, down through top and up from bottom. Should not get hardly anything out - if you do - shake it and lightly tap on ground to see if anything comes loose. When running if you put some bees wings from corn husk in at the top with the hose OFF it should still exhaust the light chaff even with out the suction hose.

here in Tennessee, we actually have a 'road kill' law. If you run over a Deer(e) , possum, racoon or other wildlife that is protected one can claim it and take it home and eat it even though it is out of season or protected.

I havn't found it to be nature of the beast in our area. I havn't even had to submerge precleaner in water to pressure wash like I've had to do to larger machines. Maybe cause it gets precleaned air from rotary screen and lays downward as compaired to large machines standing straight up. If you have followed Tbrans instructions and still have trouble I would be tempted to reach in threw slot with air conditioner condenser removed and put a piece of duct tape over at least a couple two or three swirly things. Pick the highest swirly things. If it is the nature of the beast in your area it could be dust is so light the swirly things don't spin it out to area subjected to vacuum from exhaust venturi. Closing a couple two or three holes will cause more velocity of air which should help get the dust spun out. Another thing to be sure of is hose port in precleaner should be straight down (6:00 position) and rubber hose does not have holes worn in it. Good luck
