Randy, Was there visible oil around the gearbox being lostIJ If no visible sign of external leak then I would open processor door and shine a light through cage looking at the upper portion of gearbox and there you should see a small frost plug covering the bore of the shift rail. I have seen this plug disappear and usually that is where the oil loss comes from when you don't see any sign of oil externally. Definitely get this replaced and use loctite to hold in place as we have seen virtually dry gearboxes from this plug missing. Hyper Harvest II

Now that you mention it I have heard of this problem. If this is my problem do I have to pull gear box off or can I put new plug in by just pulling rotor. Thanks again Hyper Harvest 11 and everyone else.

Definitely do the rotor removal. Half hour job out and in and also replacing the plug. Don't know of any other color that can be done on. Hyper Harvest II

Tongue in cheek = Evidently your observation has no value. local STS owner had a grate of some type break and had to be welded. It only needed a few parts replaced. To pull the cylinder - 2 men, three days, haul bill and $5000 later he had the same results as in your Gleaner R that would have been $750 and less than a day to repair. BTW had you seen the article in Farm Equipment mag on Canadian dealer lawsuit against companyIJ
