Combines R60 fuel consumption

Shouldn't you be using gal_hour... that would take alot of thing out of the equation.. mudd, rain, moisture, seed varity.. and yes.. changing the snapinrolls will cause the machine to require less horspower. I understand gal_acre for budget, but for economy and performance gal_hour is a more accurate measure.

Our R60 seems to use a quart of oil every time we start the engine, wether we combine 100 acers that day or just move it to a different farm. I don't feel this is bad for a combine with nearly 4000 engine hours. Our fuel cosumtion is very similar to yours on a per acre basis, we noticed the biggest difference in consumption after we hyperized our rotor. Todd

Good idea! I will see if the logbook has enough information and post again.

Are you aware that checking oil with a head attached will give you a false low reading because the dipstick is on the backside of the engineIJ I figure the oil level drops 1_4 when we mount a 6 row head. Did your fuel consumption drop like ours did after HyperizingIJ

I was not aware of the dipstick situation until I read a post that you had on this site last season. I did take that into acccount while checking oil this year. Our fuel consumtion droppped about .4 gal per acre in corn and .3 gal per acre in soybeans after hyperizing. I don't have the correct info to measure on a per hour basis, but that is probably a more accurate way to measure fuel consumption.

Beans7.4 gal_engine hour with processor running 59% of engine time. Corn5.9 gal_engine hour with processor running 52% of engine time. Corn is less efficient in terms of processor time to engine time because of increased unload time and waiting for trucks. Here is another interesting bit of information: Beans---423 bu_processor hour. 50 bu beans, 25 head. Corn---1287 bu_processor hour. 180 bu corn, 15 head.
