Combines r62 air condition

The design of the columns that the air flows up through is the real problem, they are not big enough or the fan itself is inadequate. The older cabs thru the R60 model had the fan and coil right above you and you could direct the fans blast of air thru the nozels right on the operator making it more effective. It was quite the change for me going from the old round bottom glass cab to the R52 we have now, did not feel the air flow I was used to, I was used to the wind in my face. An inexpensive solution would be a surface mounted 12 volt fan that plugs into the cigarette lighter, mount it on one of the columns above the uppermost vent of cool air. If you feel cool going away from the sun, your system is up to speed, you just need air movement. These units can be picked up at most truck stops for $25 or so, they run on about 2 amps, plug it in when you need it. Keep it cool, Gleamer

I did the same thing. Mounted an osscillating fan above and to the right of the operator. Best little investment you will make. I don't see any other easy solution. Pretty unfortunate that the engineers couldn't make such an important feature perform better than what they did. Great cab otherwise

Agreed the A_C on these newer R's is horrible! The AC in the l's could freeze you out. These couldn't freeze you out on a cold day. You can wash them, blow them out, have the perfect charge of gas in them, and even pack them in ice,and they just can't keep up from about 2:00pm until 6:00pm. The problem is they are pumping air from the below. What does cold air want to doIJ Fall. Not rise. Fall. Pretty basic stuff. One thing I am going to do next year is install a pc fan inside each window post. There's room in there. I checked. I think the 3" ones will do it and they move a HUGE volume of air. They use those magnet pulse motors so they pull like .2amps at 12volts. I'll just add them into the fan speed switch on the console. There are some nights you would want to be able to turn them down. AGCO_Massey_New Holland_CAT whoever they are now needs a fix for these A_C systems. A retrofit of some sort. It needs to be free. I would invite any engineer and executive to sit in there with me when its 104 out on a full sun kind of day. I might not shower that morning just to add to the affect OKFarmer

I've looked around a little bit for some different fans to put in the box below the floor. The best idea that I've come up with so far is some axial design, marine application fans. I could mount 3 or 4 of these on a panel that would replace the old fans and come up with a lot more air than these little mice cages can produce. Maybe this yearIJIJIJIJ Irv

Phew! What a relief! To think that over all these years I thought you guys up there in the USA were picking out all those bad AC's to send down here to Oz.

A couple of ideas to try! White wash the cab roof with some Bright White plastic paint, We tinted the two side window doors with 25% tint, check your exchange valve (under cab) is working properly, and we used three relays under the cab from fan switch to aloud more power to fan and not cook the fan switch every year!!! (Fire hazard in cab under right console on R series!!) we also enlarged the pillar holes under cab which the pipes from air con fit in to. Hope that keeps everyone busy Rolf

To: OKFarmer- Could you please explain to me what a "pc" fan isIJ Where can I buy oneIJ Thanks, Jack

I think he means a personal computer fan... pc. They are pretty small and move tons of air.

thanks for the info. i will look into the pc fans. agco need to use the old ac 7000 tractor fan they will blow some air.

We havn't had to do any modifing in our part of the world but do appreciate the guys wanting the draft in face affect. I have heard of guys removing vents in front of seat base to allow for more recycled air. Also I believe the filters from new machines will fit right in. They will flow more air with less restriction. I hope the guys realize there is a top and bottom filter and air has to go threw both. I believe it was '98 or '99 when hoses under cab going to vents were enlarged and this helped some. Guys in climates that never need heater could likely just remove heater core and leave it out. Now I know a higher output fan is available but unsure what they did to increase output. Could be higher speed motor or they closed up clearance from blade tips to blower housing. I think a guy could close up clearance from blade to housing with a piece of tin. I would surely at least install a relay to supply high fan speed before doing anything that could cause fan motor to work harder. One thing that should never be overlooked is the assembly of fan and motor assembly. There is only one correct way to assemble fan and blades. It will pump air any which way but will only pump good the right way. Make sure the blades are tuning the right way and blades are not installed backwards. You may need to bring blower to someone who knows how these things work. The clearance I am talking about is where the blades are at their closest point to blower housing. If you want to strip more air out from separator fan you close up this clearance so I'm quite sure it will work the same on cab fan.
